A number from 0 to 100 that estimates how colorful a sunrise or sunset may be. It is not a percentage chance. The app also shows a separate confidence level, which is lower when the event is further away or some weather data is missing.

Usually a mix of mid and high clouds that can catch the low sun's light, a fairly clear horizon in the direction of the sun so that light can reach them, and not too much low cloud, rain or haze. A completely clear sky is often pleasant but not dramatic. The app looks at the clouds above you and along the sun's path toward the horizon.

Clouds can form, move and clear within minutes, and weather models work on grids several kilometers wide, so local fog, smoke, sea breezes or hills can make a big difference. Forecasts get more reliable closer to the event, so check again an hour or two before. Submitting a sky report after you look helps us improve the model.

The Today screen shows the best viewing window and the expected peak. For sunsets, color often peaks a few minutes after the sun goes down; for sunrises, a little before the sun comes up. Face the direction the app shows (for example, "Face roughly west").

Weather data is refreshed about every 20 minutes. If you're offline, the app shows the last forecast it received and tells you when it was updated.

No. You can search for any city or place instead. If you allow location, the app uses it only while the app is open. You can change this any time in your device settings.

The free plan includes your current location and one saved place. Pink Sky+ lets you save up to 50 places.

Turn on Set alert on the Today screen or open Profile → Alerts. You get a notification before a sunrise or sunset when the score reaches your chosen level. The free plan covers one place with an alert 60 minutes before. Pink Sky+ adds alerts for every saved place, a custom minimum score and timing, and a sunrise alert the evening before.

• Check that notifications are allowed for Pink Sky Tracker in your device settings.
• Check that Focus, Do Not Disturb or battery saver modes aren't silencing them.
• On Android, set battery usage for the app to "Unrestricted" if alerts are delayed.
• Alerts are sent only when the forecast reaches your chosen level, so quiet days are normal.

Forecasts up to 10 days ahead, up to 50 saved places, alerts for every place with your own score threshold and timing, detailed cloud layers in "Why this score?", and extra photography details. Prices and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy.

iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Pink Sky Tracker and tap Cancel Subscription.

Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose Pink Sky Tracker and tap Cancel subscription.

You can also go to Profile → Manage subscription in the app. You keep Pink Sky+ until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Apple and Google process all payments, so refunds are requested from them: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, Google through the Google Play refund page.

Go to Profile → Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used to buy. If that doesn't work, email us with the date of purchase. Please don't send your full receipt or card details.

No. You can use the app as a guest. Creating an account (Profile → Sign in or create account) keeps your places and sky reports when you change phones.

On your old phone, create an account or sign in first, so your places and reports are saved to it. On the new phone, sign in with the same method. Pink Sky+ comes back with Restore purchases.

Check your spam or junk folder and wait a minute. Codes expire after 10 minutes; you can request a new one from the sign-in screen.

Go to Profile → Delete account. There you can download a copy of your data or delete your account permanently. More details: Delete your account and our Privacy Policy.
